How Long Does a Heat Pump Installation Take?
The physical installation of an air source heat pump typically takes 3-4 days. However, the full process from initial enquiry to your system being up and running usually spans 2-6 weeks.
Here's a typical timeline: Day 1 involves your initial enquiry and receiving an estimate. Within the first week, we'll conduct a home survey and produce a detailed system design. By the end of week one or two, you'll have a full proposal and we'll submit your BUS grant application.
The grant approval process can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks, depending on the scheme's current processing times. Once approved, we schedule your installation.
On installation day one, our team prepares the site, laying the concrete plinth for the outdoor unit, routing new pipework, and decommissioning your old boiler if applicable. Days two and three involve fitting the heat pump, installing the hot water cylinder, and connecting everything.
On the final day, we commission the system, setting flow temperatures, testing every radiator, calibrating your smart thermostat, and walking you through how everything works.
We always aim to minimise disruption. You'll have hot water throughout most of the process, and we leave your home clean and tidy at the end of each day.
