What Is the £7,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme Grant?
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) is a UK government initiative that provides upfront grants to help homeowners switch from fossil fuel heating to low-carbon alternatives like heat pumps.
For an air source heat pump, the grant is £7,500. For a ground source heat pump, it's also £7,500. The grant is deducted directly from your installer's quote, you never have to pay the full amount and claim it back.
To qualify, your property must be in England or Wales, and your existing heating system must be fossil fuel-based (gas, oil, LPG, or electric storage heaters). New-build properties are not eligible. You'll also need a valid Energy Performance Certificate (EPC), we can help arrange this if you don't have one.
The property doesn't need to meet a specific EPC rating, but there's a requirement that loft insulation and cavity wall insulation recommendations on the EPC have been addressed (or a valid reason why they haven't).
At Casa Renewables, we handle the entire BUS application process for you. We submit the application, manage the paperwork, and only proceed with installation once the grant is confirmed. There's nothing for you to do except approve the quote.
The scheme is currently funded until 2028, but grant availability can change. We recommend starting the process early to secure your funding.
