Heat pumps in London homes
London housing throws up questions you don't get everywhere else. Terraced houses often have a small rear garden or side return for the outdoor unit. Older homes may need a few radiators upgraded to work at the lower water temperatures heat pumps run at. Flats need the freeholder's agreement and somewhere suitable for the outdoor unit, such as a balcony, flat roof or communal area.
Every installation starts with a room-by-room heat loss survey, so the heat pump is sized to your home and not to a rule of thumb. That's what keeps running costs down.
Planning permission in London
Most houses can have an air source heat pump fitted under permitted development, so no planning application is needed. It's different for flats, listed buildings and homes in conservation areas, which London has a lot of. We check your situation at the survey and tell you whether you need to apply before you commit to anything.

Frequently asked questions
Do you cover all of London?
Yes. We're based in E10 and work across every London borough.
Can I have a heat pump in a London flat?
Often, yes. You'll need the freeholder's permission and a suitable place for the outdoor unit, and some flats need planning permission. We'll check both at the survey.
How much does a heat pump cost in London?
It depends on your home's heat loss, the size of heat pump and how many radiators need upgrading. If you're eligible for the £7,500 grant, it comes off the price. We give you a fixed, itemised quote after the survey.
