What Is the Best Time of Year to Install a Heat Pump?

    4 min read

The short answer is spring or summer. With the heating off for most of the day, losing it for a few days while the system is fitted is no hardship, and the weather makes outdoor work easier.

Installers also get busiest in autumn, when everyone thinks about heating at once. Booking for spring or summer usually means shorter waits for a survey and an installation date.

It also gives you time to see the system working before it's really needed. You can get used to the controls in mild weather and have everything settled by the time the cold arrives.

Winter installations are perfectly possible. We plan the work so you're without heating for as short a time as possible, keep hot water going for most of the installation, and can provide temporary heaters if needed.

If your old boiler is on its last legs, don't wait for the perfect season. Replacing a failed boiler in an emergency often means rushing the decision, so it's worth getting a heat pump survey done while the boiler still works.

The Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant is available all year round, so there's no grant deadline to work around at the moment. Book your free survey and we'll give you a realistic installation date.
